ESPN College GameDay is a much-beloved television program, especially during college football season, and it may open 2016 at an absolute barnburner of a location.
According to Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez, via tweets from LSU beat writer Bryan Lazare and ESPN Milwaukee, College GameDay will open the 2016 season in Green Bay for when the Badgers face the LSU Tigers at Lambeau Field on September 3, home of the NFL’s Green Bay Packers.

This game marks the first-ever played by two FBS teams at Lambeau Field and only the fourth college game in the stadium’s history. Despite that, it is a perfect location for GameDay to open the 2016 season after opening the last two campaigns at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
The answer as to why is simple. Not only is Lambeau Field home to so much history, but Green Bay fans are among the most rabid and passionate in the nation. Among that group, there are probably some Badgers fans as well.
Thus, though this story isn’t official just yet, count on there being some fireworks when it becomes so.
