Maurice Smith receives waiver that allows transfer to Georgia

Maurice Smith has finally received some good news.

After a tumultuous few weeks surrounding his transfer from the Alabama Crimson Tide — which was initially blocked by head coach Nick Saban — he was in need of an SEC waiver to land at his preferred destination, the Georgia Bulldogs, which are led by his former defensive coordinator at Alabama, Kirby Smart.

Well, on Friday, Bruce Feldman reported the news that the SEC has granted Smith a conditional waiver that will allow him to transfer to Georgia for his final season.

It’s always nice to see rulings in favor of the student-athletes.

And after the nightmare of a situation that Smith’s transfer appeared to be, I am sure he’s happy to have a positive resolution.
