The Alabama football program has officially named Mike Locksley’s new role on Nick Saban’s coaching staff.
According to Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports, Locksley has been promoted to co-offensive coordinator. Locksley was previously an analyst on the Crimson Tide staff. He reportedly turned down multiple offers to remain in Tuscaloosa.
Locksley previously served as offensive coordinator at Illinois and Maryland.
The 47-year-old Locksley will share the role with Steve Sarkisian, another former Alabama analyst who served as the team’s offensive coordinator in its national championship loss to Clemson.
Under Locksley’s direction, Illini led the Big Ten in rushing twice and in passing one season. At Maryland, Locksley’s offense recorded the third-most all-time passing yards in school history.
