Jon Gruden and Vols coaching rumors, it has become an all too familiar dance.
The past few seasons, Gruden’s name is consistently floated in Knoxville and now that Butch Jones has finally been fired, the job opening has people thinking this could finally be the time that Gruden makes his return to coaching.
But will he?
In a matter of days, there have been reports that Gruden was the favorite, Gruden was offered and then that Gruden had no interest at all.
On Wednesday, Gruden appeared on ESPN’s Mike and Mike in the Morning to address the rumors himself.
Gruden was asked a direct question about the Vols coaching rumors and his answer, well, let’s just say that it didn’t completely shut the door on a return to the sideline.
“I love Monday Night Football; don’t plan on leaving,” Gruden said. “But, as you know in life, never say never to nothing.”
