Alabama is a 4.5-point favorite in its matchup against Auburn today.
The Tigers have two losses on the season, one to the Clemson Tigers at the beginning of the year, and another to SEC rival LSU. It’s crazy to think that after those two losses, there were talks that Gus Malzahn would be getting the boot.
But now those days seem like a distance memory, and there are no shortage of people who think that the Tigers can pull off an upset against the unbeaten Alabama Crimson Tide.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, however, is not one of them.
Finebaum likes Nick Saban and Alabama to roll in the Iron Bowl today, and if they do, he believes it’s enough to get them into the playoffs. They’ll still have the SEC championship to contend with, but that shouldn’t have much bearing over whether or not they participate in the College Football Playoff.
While previewing the game this week, Finebaum said “I think if they get by Auburn, they’re in, but of course the SEC Championship next week. I think Alabama rolls today, not big time, but rolls through their nickname.”
