Vols football coach Butch Jones’ hot seat just got even warmer.
On Friday, “Vol For Life Coordinator” Antone Davis made some damning allegations against the current Tennessee head coach.
In a post from Sports Radio WNML‘s Jimmy Hyams, Davis is accused of “constant intimidation, bullying and mental abuse” by Jones. Jones spoke out in hope of stopping Jones from treating other staff members in a similar manner.
Davis has resigned and will no longer serve in the role as “VFL Coordinator” beginning Nov. 15.
The former Tennessee star says that working for Jones “has been one of the worst work experiences I have ever had.’’
Davis wrote the following in an email to Tennessee athletic director John Currie:
“I want you to know that I am not leaving Tennessee because I want to,’’ Davis wrote in the email. “I am leaving because I must. My biggest regret and fear is that I am leaving behind student-athletes and co-workers that may be subjected to the same treatment I have received.’’
Davis also wrote: “In closing, I deeply regret that things have been allowed to transpire, causing a high level of anxiety and other health issues thus creating my need to resign.’’
It was already believed that Jones would not return to Tennessee following the season, but this may have just sealed his fate.
